Vicks 44M is a cold, cough and flu medication that is in a liquid form and says to relieve all the dreaded symptoms that come alone with the cold and flu. I have personally tried Vicks 44M for a cold in the past and was not happy with the results. It did not clear up my congestion as well as it says to do so. I normally am a huge fan of Vicks products, but this one seems to fall short.

It promises to mainly relieve coughs, headache, sneezing, fever, sore throat, and a runny nose, yet after I took the dosage according to the package I felt no different. Different medications work differently for each person, so of course what works for one may not work for someone else. The active ingredients in Vicks 44M are ….

Acetaminophen 162.5 mg (Pain reliever and fever reducer)

Chlorpheniramine maleate 1 mg (Antihistamine)

Dextromethorphan HBr 7.5 mg (Cough suppressant)

There are certain side effects that you may experience from this medication as with any other medication. Make sure if you have any questions you consult with a pharmacist or your doctor before taking. There are certain warnings on the label which includes if you are taking certain medications like anti-depressants, or prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor, that you first consult with your doctor.

Also if your cough is persistent and it contains a lot of phlegm, asthma, chronic bronchitis, or emphysema and more that you make sure you talk to your doctor first. So basically if you have any health issues you should talk to your doctor to see if Vicks 44M is right for you. Also if you consume three or more alcoholic beverages every day you need to consult with your doctor first.

Vicks 44M is made from the Procter & Gamble company, which is a leader in products many of us use on a daily basis. Although there are several Vicks products that I really love, Vicks 44M is not one of them. Not to say that it wont work for you, but it did not work for me.
