The common cold with its aggravating symptoms can cause you to miss work and make you feel miserable for days. The morning meal seems to be the most effective.
Eating healthy has been proven to help prevent colds as it increases antiviral levels. And once you feel a cold coming on, hitting the cold virus with a healthy breakfast at the onset can significantly reduce the symptoms, duration and can actually repress the cold virus.
Foods such as oatmeal, or any healthy cereal, is a healthy way to arm your system before you head out to work. Don’t forget the juice! Take in those essential C vitamins. A slice of whole grain toast would go good with it too. Try to keep it to a minimum of 1,000 to 1200 calories. The key here is healthy. Don’t have time to prepare a healthy breakfast? Grab a granola bar and a container of juice or a bran muffin.
Stress application is another weapon to help prevent colds. Plunging into a good project increases immune system protein levels. A short burst of stress boosts your immune system. Just a small four to five-hour project can help boost your immune system and help prevent colds.
Green tea, which is packed with antioxidants, has been proven to be highly effective in helping to prevent colds. Green tea, added to lab samples of a cold bug, actually stopped it from duplicating. Avoid sugar and sweeten with honey, which is also healthy. No honey? Mix with juice instead.
Get plenty of rest. Losing sleep reduces the effectiveness of your immune system. Eight hours of sleep produces the highest levels of cells which attack viruses and prevent colds.
Finally, the ways we usually get a cold are by touching our face, or when someone near us, sneezes or coughs. To help prevent colds, wash your hands often and use a hand sanitizing product.
If someone near your coughs or sneezes, turn your head, close your eyes, and hold your breath as long as you can. Don’t let the germs in. Wearing a scarf helps as well because you can shield your face with it. Practicing these methods will go a long way in helping to prevent colds.
